Kelvin Mak

Kelvin Mak Cheuk-hung is a highly accomplished performing artist, director, and choreographer, renowned for his contributions to the field of contemporary dance. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of Beyond Dance Theater, a prominent dance company.

Kelvin Mak studied at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), specializing in Contemporary Dance. During his time at HKAPA, he excelled in the Gifted Young Dance Programme and received numerous scholarships.

Throughout his career, Kelvin Mak has showcased his talent on both local and international stages. He has collaborated with renowned dance companies such as City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC), Ballet Preljocaj in France, and Delattre Dance Company in Germany. His performances include notable works such as "As If To Nothing" and "Inspired by Schubert's Series - Transfigured Night."

Kelvin Mak has received numerous accolades for his exceptional contributions to the performing arts. He was awarded the Outstanding Performance by a Male Dancer at the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2017 for his remarkable portrayal in "Mother, I am Sorry." He was also nominated for the same award in 2016 for his outstanding performance in "Soledad." As the Artistic Director of Beyond Dance Theater, he was honored with The Tom Brown Emerging Choreographer Award. Additionally, his production "Remnants" received the Outstanding Mid-size Venue Dance Production award at the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2022.

Kelvin Mak also received the "Award for Young Artist" in 2023 from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Kelvin Mak Cheuk-hung's passion, talent, and dedication to contemporary dance have established him as a highly respected and celebrated teacher in the field of performing arts.
